Welcome to Hong Kong, the most exciting property market in the world. High rises dominate much of the city's skyline; but much of the northern part of the city and many of the outlying islands remain rural. The current population is about 7 million in an area of about 1,100 square kilometers, making this one of the most densely populated area in Southeast Asia. Because of this lack of living space, Hong Kong is also one of the most expensive places to live.

Climate
The climate in Hong Kong is warm and humid. The mean temperature is about 20°C; but beware the air conditioning in some buildings can be very cold. Winter ( Dec - Feb ) Temp. Because of the warm and humid weather, most homes and commercial establishments are equipped with air conditioners. So bring a light sweater when you go out- the temperature outside and inside may vary considerably. And do not be fooled by the temperature readings in winter. 10° C may not be cold in some countries; but in Hong Kong, it's very cold because of the humidity.
Currency Exchange
Banks can be found in most areas of Hong Kong, particularly in the commercial districts. Most banks will change foreign currencies and travelers'cheques into the local currency. The exchange rate of the HK$ is pegged to the US$ at the rate of HK$7.78 to US$ 1.
Identification
Visitors must carry identification at all times when travelling in Hong Kong as it is required for money exchange and other purposes.
